I'd been tweaking the mesh, trying to finish up the model, and I noticed that I'd overlooked the little inset on the bottom part of the door and area just in front of the back wing.  So after an hour or two of tweaking, more tweaking, remodeling and yet more tweaking, we have the results below:

So I've actually started working on this again...I guess buying a second monitor (Samsung 23" LED) kinda helps get the motivation going again ;)  I've actually been blending on two screens and it's seriously awesome.  I have to admit, though, I did have to prop up the 20" Acer up a bit so it would sit a bit more level with the 23" Samsung :P

A quick update, really - new topology!




Problem, though, is that I now have to readjust all the grille bits.




Completely reworked the bonnet!  There is that one edge-loop at the front of it that's a bit weird, but I've checked with the Subsurf on and it's all fine :D

After working off-and-on for over a year, I've finally finished my NES model! This was created using only open-source software (Blender 2.5 series and GIMP) and is the single most complex project I've ever undertaken. :D









A few statistics :

- Number of vertices at final calculation (for rendering) : just over [B]1.5 MILLION[/B].

Get ready for some huge updates!



So, first off, a few weeks back I did a little test to see what the final scene would look like.  It isn't rendered or anything, just a screenshot of the 3D Viewport, but still, it gave me an idea of what I was actually going for.



...a lot of Path modifying (for the cables) will be waiting for me...

Long story short, had to reformat the disk and re-reinstall Windows after reinstalling it and trying to add Linux Mint to my system.  Worked really great until Vista told me I was at the maximum number of partitions...and I want to completely reorganize, so I need disk partitions.

So, over the weekend I finally made some real progress on the project, especially on Sunday - I listened to Sonic the Hedgehog music the entire time I was modelling, so that probably helped - you know, he's....fast.  Really fast.  "Faster than the speed of sound!"

So the things to change are:

So as you can see, a turntable render of the NES game cartridge. Included in the video are both the default clay render turntable and a Wire version, for those of you curious about the topology :D





I also used Blender's built-in video editor for the first time to put this together :D  Went very well, and I definitely like the organization method - the various columns and things.

Back on July 1st in 1867, the Province of Canada (aka, Québec and Ontario, but much smaller), Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick were united into the Dominion of Canada by the British North America Act.  Which means that, as a country, Canada is 143 years old - in comparison, Québec City is 402.

I actually had to Unwrap the Plane, as the texture didn't want to stick to the mesh properly.  So I set the Texture Mapping to UV, and selected the UV Layer.  It worked super-well after that.
